Choosing a size for metal wall art, from 12 in to 72 in

The width on the product page is the width of the plate, not the width of the drawing inside it. A 24 in car is 24 in from edge to edge of the steel, which is 60 cm and 2 ft. Hold a newspaper open and you are already near 18 in (45 cm, 1.5 ft). The 12 in plate is the desk stand.

24 in (2 ft) is the first size that holds a living room. It sits over a console or beside a door without demanding the whole wall. 36 in (3 ft) is the size most households should order if they have measured and the wall is clear. 48 in (4 ft) starts to govern the room. 60 in and 72 in are garage walls, stair voids and the one empty wall in a bungalow. If you have to ask whether the sofa will look small, it will.

Measure the clear wall, then leave at least 8 in of plaster on either side. Standoffs add depth, not width. A rented flat can take any of these; you are drilling two or four holes, the same as a mirror. The price ladder jumps at each step, and front or sideways views add a further premium from the 48 in plate upward.

If two sizes both fit, take the smaller one when the drawing is simple (a name, an Om) and the larger one when the drawing has wheels, lamps and a grille you want to read from the sofa. The size chart lists every width in inches, centimetres and feet.
